North Track Records announces the release of Ian Tamblyn's latest album, A Longing for Innocence
Now available on CD!
This eclectic collection of sixteen songs was recorded with Mike Dubue at Studio Cimetiere in Quyon, Quebec between August and November 2020. The album features many musicians from the Gatineau Hills including Julia MacLaine from the National Arts Centre Orchestra, members of the Chelsea Youth Choir, as well as guest vocalist, Dayna Manning from Stratford, Ontario.
The album was a challenge to record during these “Covid times” but modern technology allowed musicians to record their parts, in some cases, from their own homes. Members of the Chelsea Youth Choir recorded their tracks individually and their voices were then brought together in the studio! At times, Ian took to back roads to reach the studio in order to complete the album.

This album is much like a collection of short stories, featuring many different styles and themes. The overriding theme however is a longing for innocence at a time when concerns of Trumpism, pandemic and climate change dominate our thoughts. And yet, through the imagination and perseverance, a glimpse of that innocence can be achieved. This longing drove the album to its completion.
